The World Cup: a time to celebrate the global community...and oggle soccer players
As referenced in my previous post, the World Cup is in full swing. I absolutely LOVE the World Cup, because unlike other similarly named events (the world series, etc.) it actually includes the whole world, and gives us all the opportunity to share in one of life's greatest pleasures: soccer.
Today is the first round of the semifinals, and my team, Spain, is still alive. Spain has never made it this far, and its previous dismal performances has branded the world class team as "underachievers". Yet thanks to fervent prayers and intense cheering, the best country in the world is still in the running for the trophy. Tomorrow, Spain faces Germany, who is heavily favored to win, yet could La Furia Roja surprise once again?
